Can you take cute engagement photos on a beach during Winter?

A snapshot of what we can do with a beach, a camera and 30 mins!

Winter beach engagement shoot, Broadstairs, by William Harley Photography

Kate and Ben have been engaged for 10 years, and will be getting married on their 13th anniversary! They really wanted some shots together to feature on their wedding website and invites. The beach is somewhere they spend a lot of time, and it resonated with them.

Unposed and natural was the deal, but what we actually got was chill, fun, silly, funny, intimate and romantic. Success.

We’ll be showing these to lots of people who are important to us, so we want it to be a true reflection of who we are
— Kate & Ben

As always, I like to start off by some super easy shots walking around - this usually warms everyone up. If especially cold, we’ll do some running too. We had a beautiful sky on Botany Bay, so it was easy to make the beach look pretty, even with a low tide and plenty of seaweed!

We then move onto some more intimate shots by the chalk stack. We’ll get a different feel from an enclosed spot, adding to the variety of the beach feel. A classic prompt will be “whisper something in their ear that you wouldn’t want anyone to hear”. This time it was about what they were having for dinner that evening. A true classic.

Heading back to the main sands for some more fun/athletic shots as they were keen!

We even made use of the Lifeguard hut which is a staple of our coastline. I got pictures of Ben trying to dismount but I won’t show them… they love them though 😅

Finally, we headed back towards the car and I snapped some final shots which gave a true ‘early evening winter walk on the beach’ vibe 🌙
