Everyday romantic engagement sessions

Aren’t these for people who love being in front of the camera? Well… no actually.

Why engagement sessions matter

Engagement photos are a great way of helping you get comfortable with your photographer and being in front of the camera, creating a relaxed connection that leads to genuine, natural wedding photos. Plus, you’ll get beautiful images for save-the-dates or wedding invitations.

Capturing everyday romance

Instead of staged poses, I focus on real moments: grabbing coffee, visiting favourite spots, or just hanging out. This approach captures your authentic connection in a meaningful way. Sometimes, even everyday situations are a perfect backdrop for your photos, leading to “yep that’s so them!” reactions. Yep, that includes just chatting in the kitchen!

Any season is great for engagement sessions. Whether it’s Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter, each has it’s own feeling when it comes to romance. Flowy and light in Spring and Summer, or cosy and romantic in Autumn and Winter.

How a fun, natural session happens

We’ll start slow, keeping it relaxed with natural movement. As you feel more comfortable, we’ll get adventurous, adding energy for fun, candid shots that truly reflect you both.

While “posing” is not on the agenda, that doesn’t mean there’s no input. I prefer “direction”, which means that I’ll suggest some situations like “how about you two lovebirds walk over there hand in hand, and as long as you look like you like each other, we’re all good!”. It always allows some room to add your personality into the situation, whether that’s laughing at yourselves, or adding a little romantic spin to the walk. Real emotion.

you’re going to run and jump on them, and then you can spin around! Just have some fun with it!

This is what happens when you run, jump and spin around. Fun without posing!

By the end, you’ll be remembering all those engagement photos you saw on Pinterest and Tik Tok and you’ll be totally up for trying them with your new found confidence in front of camera!

What to wear on an engagement shoot

Lots of people ask what they should wear on their engagement session. Now obviously you can wear what you like. After all, they’ll be your photos!. But as a bit of direction, neutral colours are best to avoid any weird colour casts on your skin from your clothes, and it also means that there are less distractions, making it more about you than what you were wearing!

Wear what feels natural to you and how you want your photos to feel! Think about the words you would use to describe how you want to feel. All of these can be natural!
